Hiking in Fashion

It’s another weekend ahead, now I don’t know how you guys spend your weekends but a getaway to the top of a mountain or to the clear rivers is something that will really blow away your stress for a few hours. Hiking doesn’t have to be tiring in fact it is probably something so relaxing, just being away from the heavy amount of traffic, stuffy pollution and people roaming around from left to right. Hiking gives you the opportunity to breathe the fresh air and appreciate and soak in a picturesque view. You won’t regret just taking a break for a day and experiencing this.

I was lucky enough to visit Manalmon in Bulacan last year and it was one of the best experiences ever, I think back and wonder how I even survived it. We left Manila at 3am in the morning and maybe an hour or so later we arrived. Starting off with the guidelines, preparing our kits, exercising we began our adventure. From hiking through rivers, climbing up and down the caves with no harnesses but just your hands strongly gripping onto the rope as you may your travel. We travelled way up to the top of the mountains and got to see such a beautiful view until now I still have the images in my head. It was perfect, despite us being hot, sticky, wet, tired, thirsty and hungry. Just looking at the view took all of that away as it was all worth it.

We even got to go swimming in the lake and got to jump from cliffs, it was just something that everyone really needed. Every once in a while it is a great experience to try something different.

But before all of this there are preparations, if you do plan on going here you need to make sure you have the right kit before you start looking for a group to join to be able to experience this. You can start with sandals, sandals that are waterproof and that fit your feet well so that it will not slip out of place. Or you can stick to sneakers, it is not hard to find sneakers for this escapade as you can find them anywhere, just make sure you find a pair with a good grip. On top of that opt in wearing leggings, the ones that can get wet, so yoga pants or you can wear shorts. However it is not advisable to wear jean shorts instead shorts that you would use for the gym. Then your shirt should be loose or you can wear a rash guard, it might seem too hot to wear but it will protect your skin and soak your sweat.

Check out these pictures I took during my trip to Manalmon:
